I have a Leupold for myself that I like but is out of that price range. During bass pro shops fall hunting classic a couple years ago they had the Nikon Archers Choice on sale like $70 off regular price. I bought one for my wife at that time. She shoots with me a lot. Especially at the lease. We'll load up four 3d targets into the ranger and take them to one of our eight stand locations and set them up to practice on. Both hers and my rangefinders are very close on yardage readings from both elevated and ground level. If something bad ever happens to my Leupold then I'll probably replace it with a more affordable but dependable archers choice by Nikon. It comes with a pretty cool camo case that stays on it during use too. Bass pro is having a range finder and binocular trade in right now. Check their website if you are close to a bps store. You can take in an old kids play pair binocs and get like $10-$50 off a new rangefinder for the trade in.

Range Finders???

Angle compensation comes into play out west not out of a whitetail deer stand. So unless you plan hunts in the mtns I probably wouldn't go that route.
Stay away from the "archery" range finders. They have a shortened rangable distance. If you ever stalk and have an animal at 300 yds you can range a rock at 260 and know you just need to make it to that rock for a 40yd shot. An archery range finder let's you range the animal that is inside 100yds generally.
