Bought my 10 y/o a Hoyt Ruckus, about a month ago, and she loves it. It's only 2.8 lbs and they're not to pricey either.

The Diamond Nuclear Ice is the way to go.

Nuclear ice was my choice for my kids, just replace the rest and sight. Use your old arrows to save cost until they are hitting target well.

Right! Was very impressed with the Ruckus the pro shop put in my 12yo son's hands today. It was his first time shooting and did great with a loaner, so am thinking about an investment. The lightness is amazing. I always end up going back to first choices, so he will probably end up with the Ruckus.

I'm going to be buying my son a Nerf bow for his birthday. Of course he'll only be 3 years old. :-)

                Gotta start them young though!

Thanks for all of the recommendations. Was leaning towards going on the simple scale, just in case he didn't take to it. Got lucky, a friend gave me a small (older) Indian Apache compound. I know it's not top of line, but will get him started. Just need to cut down some old arrows for him.

I quickly noticed that when putting bows in my 6 year olds hands. The Diamond Razors Edge looks HUGE compared to his overall size.

I am gonna get him a Nuclear Ice very soon. It might not last him as long as something a little bigger, but it fits his overall size right now much better.
