Above Ground Kennels

Made some Raised Kennels for the pups/small dogs.
Each hole is 4x8
Whole deck is 8x12
Used 5/4" Deck Boards with 1" gap so the poo falls through
Barrels on the outside to maximize room inside the run
On skids to move it if needed
Been through some good storms lately and holding up well

Next one I build will be on a trailer so it moves around easier.
I can drag this with my Ranger in Low Gear, but it has to work at it.

Yes, most of it. Some dogs are cleaner than others.
I have one that tracks it all over. The others seem to aim for the gaps.

I have seen some with mesh bottoms. Everything falls through, but I bet is is tough on the dogs feet.

Yeah the expanded metal is harsh. I've seen the chicken flooring used too. It's nice, but expensive

A little update. I changed out the barrels for these Open Tops.
Before I would have to crawl inside the kennel and clean out the straw bedding from the barrels. Now I can clean them out and change the straw a whole lot easier from the outside.

How did you secure the rim of the barrel to the side of the pen?
Good idea with the chain holding the rear. That keeps from having legs going to the ground and have to mow/weed eat around them.
