I have a Laguna IQ. Wanted a small machine capable of production. I can run 1/2" dia bit at 1/4" deep @ 100ipm in mesquite and Pecan hardwood. The kicker is making sure that you have a good clamping system to keep parts from moving and/or vibrating.

Machine weighs 400lbs which is mostly in the frame and base. This was a must so that deflection wasn't an issue. Found it on Craigslist for $3k barely used from an older gentleman. It paid itself off in about 60 days.

I'm a machinist by trade, I'm thinking of getting a router to play with when I retire. What are your favorite machines and why? Thanks!

Well I bought my gf a Glowforge and I must say the CNC Router is the better investment Lol. Something that takes 2-3 minutes to engrave/cut on my router takes about 30-45 minutes on the glowforge. They definitely compliment each other well.
