DIY 12V dusk/dawn photocell wiring with LED Light

I just bought 4 of these photocells off ebay for $14 shipped,
The seller "victoryduanshop" is in California NOT Hong Kong. I received them in the mail 4 days later.

I plan to use these to control a light under the hood of my ranger to assist in keeping mice out. I'll also use one to control a strand of LEDs in the shed I park my ranger. (Our place if off the grid)

I'll probably use one for making a feeder light as well.

All of these photo cells will be hooked up to 12v batteries with in conjunction with solar panels.

Since they don't come with wiring instructions I took this Asian guys word for it. He seems smart.

    All 4 worked perfectly!

Tell me more about this mice control via these lights.. I soldered more wires back together on my Rhino that I can count, I've put moth balls around it but of course they fall out after one trip.

Mice hate lights so I plan to illuminate under the hood of my ranger as well as around the perimeter of it to deter them. I also built a ton of mice/rat poison stations to kill them.

Cool.. I don't like the bait idea but the lightning is something I may try

They've cost me to much money to not use poison.

Thanks for the info. I should be able to find some use for that. Does the dusk/dawn sensor look like it would be weather proof at all?

It seems very waterproof but you could add silicone along the edges just to be sure. There is a hole on the bottom so you'll want to mount it with the metal bracket on the top.

I plan on using all of mine outside.

Curious if you ever hooked up your photo cell to a feeder light and if so how did you mount?

I haven't yet, the wiring would all depend on the type of feeder.

For a standard feeder with a small box below the funnel, I would just attach an additional box to the side of the feeder using self tap screws and a bracket.

For a feeder with an enclosed compartment with ample room for a second 12v battery I'd just drill holes and use magnets for the LEDs and screw the sensor to the barrel

I'm using your idea to make a stand alone hog light. Going to put battery and photocell in a plastic ammo can. Just trying to figure out how to mount photocell in ammo can do it work properly. I know it will require a joke but no sure which part of that photocell "sees the light." That make sense?
