    sorry for late reply just noticed this:

    the white plastic part houses the sensor, you will need to screw the photocell to the outside of the can and pierce the ammo can to run the wires to the inside. Then use some silicone to keep it water tight. You might also make a drip edge as a precaution.

      Thanks. I wasn't sure if photocell should go on out side or if I should mount inside and cut some kind of a hole/window in ammo can to let light in.

        It's made to go outside. The white cover protects the sensor from the elements.

            I did the same thing to my lease camper but I added one similar to this. This and the lights come on at dark, go off during the day. Solar keeps the battery charged. So far - no more mice.
