We used 1", 11 gauge. My brother, Johnpaul, said that if he did it again though he thinks he'd probably go with 14 gauge.

The blinds are both still floating and in use to this day, with all original materials still on the blinds, including barrels. Only thing that has changed is we moved them to a different, larger 640 acre reservoir. We just rebrush them each year.

Do you remember length of yours? How many can comfortably hunt out of it?

They are both 12 foot. The first one we built, mine, the sides of the blind are taller and the width in between is a narrower feeling because they go straight up. I would usually try to keep it to me plus two other guys in it. My brother's, Johnpaul, is also 12 foot, but if you search on his past threads started and see the second one we made, we made it a bit different. The built in bench and shelves are nice, and you can hunker back down underneath the over hang of brush. I know I have personally hunted out of his blind with me 255 pounds, another buddy who is 275-280 pounds, and two other guys who are 340-380, and it was not a problem at all. We actually had plenty of room once all in there. Other times I have hunted 5 of us pretty simply with more normal size occupants. I would definitely recommend building the spud poles for the corners as that really helps to stabilize it.

One thing that me and Johnpaul disagreed on that I still think would have worked "better" was instead of using the boards for the decking, I thought welding or bolting metal grate down and then covering with either horse stall mats or a similar type mat would possibly reduce weight and last longer if hot dipped galvanized when we had it done. If you aren't going to hunt a dog out of it then you wouldn't even need the mats to put down.
