This is what I did with 1"x1" wire and raped a ratchet strap around the barrel where I over lapped the wire on thew barrel and put a door in the side for access to the Spin Tech feeder. I hope I have finally beat those corn thieving rascals.

Just saw at Target last night a shelving system the has a bunch of panels that can be used to build varmit cages, it has a bunch of different wire mesh sides that can be used to build the cages. It was on sale for $10.00 and had about 20-23 1'x1' wire mesh pieces, it takes five to make a varmit cage. 4 cages for $10.00 aint bad. I would use hogrings to connect the panels together.....

Even with a 1x1 mesh my coons and squirels still manage to get there paws in there and spin my timer.

Two 10'S, is the bottom side of the guard you built also covered with the same material and cut in a circle to fit?

Some pics of varmint cages I use. They are 12"x17" & 13"tall w/ a 1" mounting flange. I mount them using self tapping screws w/ 1'' x 1/4" fender washers (8). The cages are put together w/ "cage clips". The door is hinged w/ hog rings to allow for easier opening. I use 1"x2" welded wire. On occasion I have had to add some 1"x1/2" wire in the area near the spinner to keep coons from being able to get to the spinner plate. I an ammo can setup for motor/timer/battery. The door on the varmint cage allows for easy access to the ammo can door.

TC.....I just cut one section past and trimmed off the long edge leaving a whole lot of little ends to roll back into where they meet. Kinda like you do with goat wire tying it back into itself......

I made 6 of these last year kind of like Smart's design on the right. I used the 1" square rabbit/pet caging material and I used the 1"x1.5" caging material. I got the materials from Lowes in the outdoor chain link fence area. A good pair it tin snips, needle nose pliers, and a cocktail helps when building.

I attached the cages with these one-hole midget straps and self tap hex head screws
