Anyone have plans on how to make & what parts?

I was just fixin' to post the same question. I want to make one too, a round one the size of the barrell - where do you get the mesh with the right size holes?

Any feed/hardware/farm store will sell it by the foot. It's usually 2 foot wide

I'd recommend 1"x1" for normal coons or 1" x .5" mesh for overachievers...

I bet you could buy one as cheap as you could make one....

Probably but just stay away from those folding 14"x14" folding squares that double as coon jungle gyms....

like smart said, the wire is the best way, and I can usually put it on my feeders in less than 15 minutes. Just use self tapping screws and large washers and screw it all the way around the bottom of the barrel, cut it how deep you want it all the way around, then use another peice for the bottom and just intertwine it together around the edges.

I used the one inch by one inch hardware cloth from tractor supply, lot heavier than most that you buy and put together, easy to work with and can just wrap around the barrel and fasten with screws and washers, easy to cut in access door to timer, I use bungee cords and wire ties to secure the door, once you wrap the barrel overlap the bottom, cut to fit and tie up with good pliers.

I have used a 1"x2" mesh welded for years. Comes in a 36" roll. Dose a great job. Lets the corn fly too! Just finnished two more this weekend, one is 23" diameter by 18" deep. The othere is 23" dia. by 16" deep. It is very easy material to work with.

I use the pre built ones. I have them on all my feeders.Coons can hang on them but since I've been using them for about 3 years now I have not had a single timer torn up. Easy to change out your battery and access your timer

here's some pure redkneck ingenuity that has worked for me so far. i used 24" chicken wire. just wrapped it around the legs of the feeder, fixed it to each leg by bailing wire and put a pc across the bottom side. the wholes don't seem to restrict the scatter much and the wire has also helped keep the cows from licking the spinner. we've had more problems from them (cows) than the coons.

I just made one from 1"X1/2" rolled mesh I bought at Lowe's. It cost me $15 and I have enough to make at least 3 guards. I attached it to the feeder's metal leg inserts with bolts, washers, and nuts (no screws) after drilling through the inserts. I used wire to tie it all together, then went back and opened some of the 1/2" openings to 1" with wire snips.
