Thoughts on building a gooseneck utility trailer?

I have a 24' utility gooseneck that I use several times a week. It has a steel floor and the top rail on it is 3" square tubing, sounds like 3/16" wall. The things I would change on it would be adding a place for chains and strap storage, a few more stake pockets for hookup points, and two spare tire mounts instead of just one. I would also like to put 8k lb axles on mine instead of 7k so that it can handle a full load better, it usually is either empty or fully loaded.

One thing I can say is to put the toughest fenders you can find on it. Mine are out of 1/8" tread plate, and I can use them as a hookup point if I need to and they don't budge a bit.

Deck over for more storage. If that is an option.
Good bottle jack I needed a jack this weekend, and only had a little floor jack
              Two spare minimum
If folding ramps on deck over get some thick rubber attached to where ramps contact trailer for a little noise reduction.
              Good brakes.
              Good Tires as stated above.

What are you gonna use for mostly?

transport for ag mech projects, picking up steel, BBQ pits, etc. Nothing heavy, but able to have the capabilities if needed.

I have not seen anyone mention a spare tire rack.
If you do use conduit for the wiring make sure to seal it good otherwise it holds water and will cause a short in your wiring. As someone mentioned go with LED lights all the way they are worth the expense. Work lights are great! I am seeing some really good suggestions here, obviously from guys that have used trailers and learned a few lessons about what is really necessary.
                  Good luck on the build!

Let us hear the pros and cons of radials verses bias ply trailer tires

I like bias ply. When they come apart they do not beat the crap out of fenders
