I cut the receiver legs to 13-14* angle and the 5/16" steel plate looked to have warped a touch from the heat welding the pulley hangers on in the center. Do the legs look far enough apart, should I increase the angle? At ground level they are 7-7.5' apart. They are 15' long putting the top 14.5' off the ground

You can always make the top plate a little wider. The stubs don't need to be so close unless the plate is too thin. That way you can get your barrel higher without going with such long legs. I also recommend 2 piece legs. I have a tripod with solid legs and hate them. Have planned on cutting them in half for quite a while... just haven't gotten to it. Or you can look on craigslist at some feeders out of Vidor. This guy has a real good idea using a T at the top.
