Wanted to share with TBH another blind build. As kids are getting older, we are needing more space. Have enjoyed the project, not completed yet, but planning to have it ready and installed in the field Labor Day weekend.
A few notes from the build:
- Utilized an old 4x6 blind steel frame, cut/spliced additional steel supports to increase the dimensions.
- Utilized 2x3 lumber for slight weight savings. Window trim 8’ PT fence pickets, stripped in half
- walls and roof are modular for easier transportation to the field. Walls are secured to base with bolts. Roof is framed to fit inside walls space.
- Ordered several Deer View windows to be installed (pending delivery).
- utilized the Smart Siding for walls, have been very happy with the value and quality during construction.
- reinforced door with lumber framing to increase durability
- Leg extensions to be added to increase height from 4’ to around 10’
- Pending activities (most will be in field after transport): a few more shelves, carpet, paint, exterior corner trim, joint sealing, roof panels (galv sheet metal R-Panel), window install, flashing above windows, interior hardware (hooks, gun holders, acoustic foam panels on walls, etc)
Starting point, old 4x6 frame stripped down

Cut and spliced new bracing for 6x8 dimension

Wall panel baseboards secured with bolts for modular transport to field

Interior framing and shelves

Window trim and ventilation
