    DIY Swamp Bucket for crawfish,shrimp,seafood

So while recovering from cancer I got bored and did this little project.
If you want to do a crawfish or seafood boil for just a few people (1-8 or so) this will work great. I normally get out the propane burner and large pot for cooking.
With this homemade swamp bucket I can have a family dinner boil without needing the propane burner going.
I saw the actual “Swamp Bucket” for sale and it was over $100. I was able to build mine cheaper and I believe better. If you like this, but don’t want to make it yourself then I’d suggest looking up the maker of Swamp Bucket and get you one. I used a larger bucket and heating element than the original maker did. Anyway here’s mine:

It’s very simple just a couple of tools and drill to make it.
I will post the parts in the pictures. I added an electric box too just so there wasn’t always a cord attached to it. Then I just put two male connectors on an extension cord. All I have to do now is add water and plug it in. First boil was shrimp, sausage, corn, and potatoes. It came out perfect. I fed 5 of us who were here and curious to see if it actually worked. The food came out perfect and there was plenty of room in the bucket to have made lots more.

I’m gonna be honest. I feel like that extra kidney was just holding you back from greatness. As soon as you got down to one kidney, all of a sudden, you’re a genius. Awesome idea

That's cool! I like your idea of putting a connection box on the bucket, versus having just an attached cord that would get in your way while dumping.

that was my thinking too. The cord would just be in the way.

Sooo, you have to have an extension cord with two male ends. ?? Good way to get hurt. Change the receptacle to an rv 120 male plug.

Can you tell me why? What’s the risk? I’m obviously no electrician. I’ve used this bucket three times now without any issues. Thanks

I assume you are using a power cord with a male plug on both ends. If this is correct, the prongs on one end are energized when you plug you power cord in, This can be very dangerous.

Yes that’s correct. Ok. I guess it’s safe as long as you plug it into the power last when connecting and unplug it from power first when disconnecting right?
