cheap vodka smells like rubbing alcohol in my opinion. you sure it wont make me smell like i just got out of a nail salon instead of cedar?

Let it set for a few days and strain it thru cloth. alcohol evaporates quick. If you don't like it you can drink the rest of it.

Or you can just pull a hand full of cedar off of a bush as you walk out into the pasture and put in in your pocket each time. I've been doing this for years and it helps but in a wind like we are having this week best option is to hunt into the wind.
Makes you wonder what the old timers did to kill deer, I mean they didn't have camo, scent lock, tinks, cover scent, etc. My Grandfathers, grandmothers and others just hunted with the wind in their favor. Sometimes I think we as hunters are getting too lazy and rely on hunting products too much. We could all stand to become better "hunters" but in the mean time I'm going to try this.
I like to break off some cedar limbs and rub them on my cap, sleeves, pant legs and boots...works good and gives off a pretty good smell.

Old Timers...Sat in a truck or box blind with a gun and backed off 100-150 yards, corned a sendero...no need for camo, cover scent or scent free clothing. Heck my Uncle still does it this way and kills big deer every year.

Consider adding a few tablespoons of baking powder (sodium bicarbonate I think) to your mixture. Carbon absorbs odor. Like putting an open box of baking powder in the refrig. I tested the ph of the liquid scent away brand product and compared it to a baking powder and water solution, they are the same thing!!!!!!!!!!

wait, so your saying a baking powder/water solution mixed in the right ratio will kill scent like name brand products?

if so, thats got to be the best find so far.

I have used this mix in the past and it works real well. Boiled the ceader like you did, mixed 1/2 brew, 1/4 distilled water, and a shot of cheap vodka. This will not mold and the alcohol from the vodka will keep it from molding, and no it does'nt leave an alcohol odor. Works real good with fresh pine needles too.
