    Killing wasps

The getting rid of flies thread got me to remembering the best way to kill wasps and wasp nests. I use it to kill wasps, yellow jackets in my blinds and around house. Keeps the spray smell out of my blinds too. Simply take a cup of water and and add some dishwashing soap. Throw it on the nests and they are done. They usually are dead in 30 seconds and they don't fly

I have used the dish soap and water with great results. On our stands I'll hit them in Sept at night. I set a holiday fogger off just inside the door and button the stand back up. Takes out the wasp, spiders, scorpions and other pest and the smell is long gone by hunting season.

Soap breaks up the waxy coating and they basically dehydrate (what I've been told anyway.)

        It works

The soap asphyxiates them by covering their abdomen.

Yep they suffocate. Like i said what's amazing is they can't fly and they are stone cold not moving dead in less than 30 secs

I use carb cleaner. Not scent free but cheaper than wasp spray and it evaporates. It kills them mid flight even.

I seen several DIY wasp traps on the net, using a 2 liter bottle, a straw, bacon, soapy water. They fly in, eat so much bacon the fall off the straw drown in the soapy water.

Kept them out of our box blinds in LaSalle county for 5 years by buying Pro-Zap Insect strips (http://www.horseloverz.com/Prozap-In...pr-152676.html) like the old "shell no-pest strips" and cutting each strip into 3 pieces and hanging a piece in each blind. Might need to open the windows for a few minutes before getting in the blind, but sure keeps the wasps out.
