This little thing called work is getting in the way of progress and the rest of the week doesn't look promising. I should have time to work on it this weekend.

Not complete with the adding the plaster yet, but at least I've started. I've confirmed to myself that it is going to be tough to make this into a nice smooth, uniform surface. Time will only tell how it comes out...

Bondo in place or on top of the plaster....Me and a buddy did a "boom-tube" for and ATV with it. We where able to sand it like you would a car and it turned out very smooth. Cool project

Yesterday I added plaster to the remaining areas. Today I sanded everything down smooth. I actually did a rough sanding, then used some spackling to fill in some low spots. So now I'm ready to do some fiberglassing. I am officially WAY out of my comfort zone when it comes to attempting fiberglassing...

But for now I'm happy how it has turned out.

What questions do you have about fiberglass, I work with it for a living.

Well as you can see, it is not exactly a level surface. I made my first attempt last night and failed miserably! The resin cured way to fast on me. Not exactly sure of the right questions to ask:

Because of the complicated contours, should I simply cut a bunch of 3" x 3" squares instead of trying to use larger sheets? I attempted to cut a sheet for one of the ends, but I guess I tried to do to much at one time. It didn't work out.

How much should I attempt to do at one time? Should I do one small section at a time and just overlap each and then after worry about sanding it smooth?

The only tool I was trying to apply the resin with was a paint brush, but that just seems too slow. I saw one video where the guy just pored it straight on, but he was using a mold that was almost like a bowl. I think it might just fall off the sides if I try that.

I guess all in all, any tips you can give me would be a big help. Seems like a rather steep learning curve on this one…Thanks!!
