There is a database of mass shootings maintained by Mother Jones, which despite it left leanings, is pretty much universally acknowledged as being accurate. You can easily search, find and download into Excel.

It dates back to Columbine and there is not an increase in school mass shootings on a per capita basis (population as well as number of schools). The media routinely lies about this when reporting on frequency of school shootings.

The left has also changed the definition of both school and mass shootings over time to make it look like the frequency has increased.

The one thing that is alarming and we tend to ignore on the right is that the deadliness of school shootings (and mass shootings) has increased dramatically, especially when you factor in just how much much police response times have improved.

It is because of the increased deadliness of certain weapons and their apparent ease of access. Both the weapons and the clips. One shooter can do a tremendous amount of damage in seconds, much less minutes.

Still doesn't justify the fear generated by politicians and the media and the undue stress placed on children going to school.

I appreciate everything you are saying but you have me floored at Mother Jones being universally acknowledged as accurate. They are easily in the top ten of politically biased pretend internet media orgs.

If you perform risk analyses in the security world its easy to understand why after these shootings proper measures aren’t widely implemented. Its merely a ratio of the cost of the risk (lives included) to likelihood of the risk occurring. The likelihood is EXTREMELY low making it a low risk proposition even though when it does happen it seems the opposite. Districts wont spend money unless the risk analysis changes from low/unlikely.
