One Second After by William Forstchen

Get this book gang...it is an outstanding riveting read!! Couldn't put it down & finished in two days cuz I could no long keep my eyes open. One of the best written novels I've ran across in along time. I did a search of the author here & it's been recommended more than once over the years & surprised it took me this long to find it. Just ordered the other two of the trilogy, One year After & The Final Day.

I've heard a little about the rare possibility of EMP's & solar flares taking out the grid, but I never grasped what the fall out would be & the story is masterfully written. While I've always considered myself somewhat prepared for a 'short term' SHTF scenario, I've never considered a long term & having to revert back to the 1900's long term. You will love it.

Put this in PACE cuz I'm sure one of our snarky three word drive by derailing posters would take the train off the tracks due to the tin foil element of the topic.

I think you will especially enjoy it...lots of elements & some tear jerking moments that will really appeal to the female side of such a scenario. I Look forward to your feedback.

Wife is in the middle of finishing up her further nursing education online & taking on a new gig...says she doesn't have time for a book right now, but it's right up her alley. Almost afraid for her to read it or she will really go into overdrive, as she's more wound up than I am with the whole supply chain problems.

We would be totally screwed regarding my daughters medication needs in any SHTF deal.

Yes, great book and I've referred to it here a few times. I need to dig it out and re-read it.

Makes you realize how vulnerable we are

Read it a long time ago. It was great.

If I remember right the follow-up books were pretty disappointing

I read this book a few years ago, as stated above a very good book. Do some background on this topic and how some of our ex government officials have looked into this EMP grid down scenarios.

Yes the follow up books were disappointing.

Yeah we are not prepared should this actually happen

Thanks for the recommendation, going to order it. If Something of that magnitude that y’all are talking about happened, it would turn many into straight savage mode.

Is based on facts or fiction? Asking because I try to stay away from fiction.

It’s basically a narrative of the reality that would occur if a widespread EMP happened. The author did a lot of research on what the effects would be and based the book off that. It’s technically fiction-but could feasibly occur in our lifetimes. I read it in a few days. It’s very well written.

Now if you want to watch something very concerning about the world we now live in then watch "The Social Dilemma" on Net Flix.. It will freak you out.
