I caught the last part of the story on the radio this morning, but they said something about the Phillips 66 refinery in Houston shutting down and converting to storage. About 900 Houstonians will lose their jobs?
It is in Louisiana. It’s not uncommon practice when they sit down an older facility it makes it into some type of terminal. Reason being from what I was always told it was easier & economical to make it a terminal due to all the contamination in the soil etc. ack in the earlier days we just let things go to the ground, sewers etc.
We're fortunate to live in the state with the lion's share of US refining capacity. The cost of fuel will fluctuate with the price of oil, but we'll always pay less than our yankee brethren.
No P66 refinery in Houston. And, they tried to sell the place in La.. No buyers. You will see more of this in the next few years. Especially with the smaller players that cannot adapt to both fossil and renewable energy.
