    Any chance?

What are the chances they pass a bill making people pay taxes on unrealized gains?

I haven't been keeping up but keep hearing this. Truth to it?

From my understanding this would only be for the "Super Rich". All of the information I have read says that if it was created and passed it would only effect the top 600 richest people in the US. I still think it is total bull though. Even if it only effected 1 person, it is a load of crap.

I also do not believe that the Democrats could ever get this passed, but I have been wrong before.

I think it would affect a lot more people than that.

Only affect the rich is the oldest politician trick in the book.

That sucks, but at this point it’s just another par on the course. You should consider selling some of your holdings if long term capital gains remain at 20% for this year. If it’s a position you want to stay in, buy it right back. But do it just before Christmas. For the repurchase, it puts you in the same decision at the end of the following year. Which is an opportunity to look over the tax rates while in LTCap gains. Learning from my own mistakes, I sold LTCG too late last year to get back in the same year. The stocks had to settle, which took a few days.

If it is intended to only effect the rich, the rich will say F/O and pool their resources to crush the bill. And let’s not forget who really owns the lawmakers anyway. Then you’ll see it trickle down to middle class. Let’s Go Brandon!!

Not a chance something like this passes. I think it’s another one of those super crazy ideas they throw out so when they come back with less crazy tax plan, it will seem normal.

It may start out with the "super rich", but rest assured they have run the numbers on how much they'll make once that "super rich" definition includes most people on this site.

This is why D's win. When they show up to the table, the sky is the limit. "What ridiculous thing should we ask for" is the thought going through all their heads. R's come to the table with no plan whatsoever except please democrats, make an exemption for us.

Second, "only the rich" ALWAYS trickles down to the middle class. Because no way in hell are the Bill Gates and Bezos gonna pay.

Odds are, this is to get you stirred up so they can hit us with something more mundane sounding that still results in much more money coming out of our pocket.

Remember when the AMT only caught the ultra wealthy? It now catches a huge part of taxpayers.
