You aren’t being elementary you are being typically condescending and you are basing your position on the idea that a piece of cloth prevents the spread of a virus which is just stupid. When I’m shoulder to shoulder In Home Depot it’s just laughable that anyone would believe that a buff is what’s saving us all. And if masks work then why didn’t they?
It’s time to move on and allow people to make their own decisions including businesses. Unfortunately death is part of life.

I for sure understand that the bigger policy questions are complex and layered. Invoking multiple public policy arenas just clouds the particular question of yours that I answered. I get that’s probably intentional on your part, or maybe it’s clouded in your mind.

Calling me condescending is the pot calling the kettle black. I know I can come off that way at times, but I’m also not the hypocrite that tries calling people out from moral high ground while being belligerent and using middle school “debate” tactics.

Drug Overdose Deaths at Record High, Mexican Cartels Stronger Than Ever: DEA
BY CHARLOTTE CUTHBERTSON March 3, 2021 Updated: March 3, 2021biggersmaller Print
Drug overdose deaths spiked during the first few months of the 2020 pandemic-related lockdowns, according to provisional data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

More than 83,500 people died from an overdose in the 12-month period ending July 2020—an average of 228 deaths per day.

It’s the highest number of overdose deaths ever recorded, and the final number, which is up 24 percent over the same period in the year prior, is expected to be even higher.

The CDC issued an emergency health advisory on Dec. 17, 2020, alerting public health workers to the acceleration of overdose fatalities in lockstep with widespread shutdowns.

“This represents a worsening of the drug overdose epidemic in the United States,” the CDC stated.

An analysis by the Well Being Trust in May 2020 estimates a possible 75,000 additional “deaths of despair,” including suicide as well as drug and alcohol abuse over the next several years, due to the shutdown measures.

I understand there are these factors too and we may never know what the total net is. Or maybe you already do somehow? Please share.
The policies around COVID were poorly implemented and a lot of them were misguided, I agree.
The simple question of exposure in restaurants vs. Home Depot I don’t think is all that complicated.

        It doesn’t matter to me.
I think the principle is those 10 people see 10 people who see 10 people and now there are 1,000 connected.
What’s happening on this thread is like all of them. A simple issue gets posed or addressed and can’t be actually talked about without all the subject changing, name calling and labeling, etc. I tried to pick up the difference between Home Depot and Outback Steakhouse and OldRiverFart ignores that and wants to talk about drunk driving.

Do you plan on opening dine in any time soon? I stopped by the 45 location the other day when I was in the area bc I was craving wings. I went elsewhere due to wanting to sit down and eat lunch. I don’t do messy wings in a vehicle and do not live anywhere near your locations. I will say, your wings rank top 5 for the best I’ve had.

One of those things that makes you go "hmmm?"

I wondered if that would happen ahead of time. It forced people to stay home is one possibility.

Not from what we can forsee. [emoji19] Our spaces are extremely small and would only allow for maybe 18 sit down customers even at 50% capacity. We have the plexi glass dividers and bought $3k worth of hygiene products/cleaners but not overly confident due to our square footage. The constant cleaning and overhead associated with maintaining the dining spaces would diminish ROI at the end of the day. My wife now serves on the board of the Greater Houston Restaurant Association and membership polls are definitely leaning towards what has been seen over the last year......"employees masked and customers entering masked until seated". To be clear, restaurant owners of all sizes are trying to stay open. Lots of owners had horrific stories of loooong time employees passing away. Customers determined to cause added confusion. Chasing moving targets, etc.. We have been highly blessed in all of this as delivery and take out was already 72% of our business. We pivoted to 100% within 2 weeks and the pace has increased steadily. Choices of keeping everyone gainfully employed or being overly safe is quite the juggling act. The current estimate is 10k restaurants in the Houston metropolis will not survive and the ones that have gotten this far are really remaining cautious. [emoji856]We have had 5 employees of the 40 have covid, one was severe and out for 9 weeks and we continued to pay the salary. Yes, wings & such are messy in a vehicle but appreciate the consideration.
