Green energy is great. As a supplement but not as a replacement. I’m all for green energy where and when it’s appropriate. And I’m for dirty mean ole coal, gas, and nuclear where it’s appropriate.

coal/gas failed harder than green energy did.
            Guess it sucks too.

Part of the reason it failed is because money that could be spent on weatherization is spent on green energy. In addition, money is being sent to China and other countries for us using the same fuel sources they do. Again, that money could be spent upgrading / weatherizing facilities here.

                ^THIS^

Not to mention all the gas & coal plants, that have been taken offline, and disassembled. If they had still been there, and maintained, we would not be in this situation.

Green energy as a reliable source is a pipe dream, and that pipe is very VERY long.

The problem with the green energy is inconsistency. The inconsistency causes the conventional plants to stay on line at full capacity to be able to make up for the times that it fades. So, there's really no savings to it. It actually becomes a pain in the butt to deal with for providers.

Another good point - I mentioned some of that in another thread. A lot of coal generation has been taken off line in recent years due to environmental pressure. That would have provided additional megawatts in this situation. But for some reason we allow China to keep building coal plants. I guess they use a different atmosphere?

                        Thank you sir.

You can add to that, all of the allocated maintenance funding for the still online gas/coal plants, that is being bled off, and transfused into the huge maintenance demands for the wind generators.

The truth is: Due to their extravagant maintenance requirements, the wind generators do not, and cannot produce enough revenue to stand alone. Yes, a little pun intended there.

I hate how social media has created an all or nothing to everything. Fossil fuel is of course the most efficient but what’s wrong with competition in fuel source and competition in the market. I’ll use what is cheapest and most reliable and helps sustain American independence for energy. Anything other than open markets and competition is bad for normal people.

When one is cannibalized to sustain the other, then the market competition no longer exists.

That’s true now, but technology will increase efficiency. Hell oil and gas in fracing hasn’t been able to make profits in 20 years, all expansion in the industry has been off debt and easy money hoping to one day make it efficient enough. Every type needs to have a seat, nuclear may end up the being best if we allow new technologies and plant construction to be allowed.
