Its absolute BS. It took all the will power i had last night not to go off on some of the people posting on FB under the KLTV post when this was announced. It amazes me how many people on their thought this was great and how bad REL and JT actually where. And a bunch of them where saying they should name it after Collin Kapernick.... I hear ya!! I went to Lindale but been around the Tyler, Van, Lindale area all my life. I hate this whole squeaky wheel gets the grease BS. Is they had actually excperinced slavery segregation or oppression it would be one thing but most of the people pulling for this don’t even have a dog in the fight.

My wife said on FB there are a lot of local former grads posting their old graduation date an alma mater showing they were proud former graduates from either Lee or JT
I’m sure some will counter those posts with you should be ashamed, etc...just to prove they got their way & it was a good thing.

In the late 60's, Tyler Lee's home games were something to watch with respect to their band n cheerleaders. They had a Stars n Bars flag that dang near covered the field ant the Tyler Lee Rebels team took the field by running out onto the field under it as it was held high in the air covering the field. The band played Dixie. Our fight song was Dixie too and it was a heck of a band duel every time Lee played Lufkin.

Sounds like people need to be voting on what to call the state capitol of Texas since the current name is pretty dang offensive. Houston as well. We will get to the rest of the offensive city's and towns later. Can't believe it took nearly 200 years to be offended but I'm glad we finally got "woke"
