I don't understand why we have monuments to traitors of the United States to begin with. I mean where is Benedict Arnolds monument? I don't get it. Can someone explain why these traitors have monuments? These men just didn't threaten to succeed they literally took up arms against the USA and killed fellow Americans. And they did it over the right to keep enslaved people. You can't get much lower than that.

That’s the question. Are they traitors because they lost or because they fought for something wrong? If the founders had lost the Revolution would they be traitors or honorable men who lost?

Humans are inherently flawed. Using today standard of a great human may not be the next generations.

Is somebody that amended the constitution a traitor? What about a politician that vowed to fundamentally change the county? Negotiated with terrorists ? A politician running as a socialist?

Lots of attacks on this great country happening right now, and it isn't from people that died 100+ years ago.

Semper Fi bro; it's our history and all history is not good/nice. I don't think they should be removed.
I like Pres. Trumps idea of building a memorial garden with all Americans included in it.

we can't do anything about our past; just try to make our future better.

Well to your first question they are traitors against the USA which happened to not be an oppressive form of government. They defended an unhonorable institution called slavery.
To your second question the founders were fighting for self evident truth of freedom which by any standard is honorable against an oppressive system. So win or lose they were honorable men.
            That's my opinion anyway.

Well an amendment to the constitution is fundamentally not traitorous. So no.
Everyone has free speech and can vow to do all sorts of things. But to fundamentally change the country would take a heck of a lot of politicians to agree and I don't see that happening. So no
The Trump admin is negotiating with terrorist in Afghanistan right now to end violence and war. So no
A politician running as a socialist is not traitorous in the least bit. It's FFFed up but not traitorous. Heck there are some in Congress right now that Americans elected knowing full well their candidate was a socialist. So no.

I believe food stamps and welfare set all this up. I'm retired now but for 50 years I worked my butt of for my family.

I personally think they should stay. I believe in states rights and the ideas (other than slavery) that the average Joe Confederate was fighting for. As stated above, many of the men depicted by their statues accomplished great things before and after the war. I use Sully at Texas A&M as an example.

Put it to a vote per city. Let the citizens decide if they should be removed. However, I wouldn’t want them destroyed. I’d rather see them in a museum dedicated to the Civil War. Let’s teach our history, good and bad.

With that being said, I don’t think it has anything to do with the statues or Civil War. It’s a mob with an agenda. Every idiot that has been involved in the destruction should be charged and convicted to the fullest extent of the law. As should every rioter/looter that was involved in the destruction of businesses and buildings.

BS! They were NOT traitors to the USA. They were citizens of the USA. Slavery was definitely part of the civil war, as that was the south’s labor in order to continue commerce. There was also the fight for states rights. That in itself was viewed by the south as the federal government being tyrannical. Maybe you should look up the definition of civil war.

Sick of a few of you on here calling confederate soldiers traitors. Maybe you should look into King Cotton and the real truth about the civil war instead of repeating agenda driven talking points.
