The current Texas law allows for a disaster declaration by the governor and his orders are criminal law.

The Constable above makes the claim that it has to be a legislative passed law ... OR... the product of a regulatory authority passed by legislation. The problem is that the governor IS a regularity authority passed by the legislature.

This is why I don't believe in executive orders. I think they should be abolished at both the federal and local levels.

I would think that in a vast majority of places social distancing is possible. I believe it's only required if social distancing isn't possible. Also, I understand one of the exceptions is that it's not required while eating and drinking. I believe I'll be taking a bottle of water with me everywhere I go.

Nah! Name one disaster our government has used to gain control. They never ever take the next step after pushing some BS over on us They are always satisfied once we are safe and delete the laws made up during the disaster.

If he can make up a new law that comes with a fine ordering everyone to wear a mask, what keeps him from declaring a disaster over the folks rioting and make everybody turn in their guns?

Just list how many gun deaths there are or have been. I can see a liberal doing this.

This. Havent worn one yet and wont. Went into several stores today with signs posted about wearing a mask and nothing was said to me about not wearing one. Saw a few others not wearing any as well.

Because crazy people haven't turned you in fast enough yet. Just wait a couple more days. They will have hotlines. You'll be able to watch people calling and telling on you.

I’d really like to get a ticket for not wearing one. I’ll take a jury trial. Even if I lose it will be money well spent.

So insane we will end up being the ones getting fined but the looters and road blockers etc.. LEO's just watch and they get nothing.

I’m always envious of your knowledge of laws but this comment has me stumped.
I take it as “whoopty doo, you’re going to do something in 2.5 years. Big deal. Sucks to be you.”
I’ll do what I can when I can. I will vote for a republican challenger, if there is one. I will NEVER vote democrap. I say never, I probably will several years after I die. What’s a better suggestion?

I was just noting that many people probably think (from reading various threads in this and other forums) because this is a presidential election year, it is also for the governor.

I think many people believe they are going to vote Abbott out in about 4 months and that simply isn’t true.

That was my only intent.
