No experts are claiming it's the end of the world. People in the know are pretty much universally saying "This isn't the end of civilization but's it's most likely going to suck for a while and it's just starting"

How about this? We got caught flat-footed trying to manage an extremely contagious disease. Seems a bit more plausible than a global conspiracy.
I’m not saying that sometimes there aren’t shenanigans afoot. But unless we really are living in the matrix, this would be a hard one to orchestrate.

I’m on the side that would rather play safe than sorry. I have a family to watch for. To me that means I have a duty to air on the side of caution. I don’t believe people need to fort up, but I do believe we should all have the means to be self sufficient for a week or two. No different than keeping a supply kit handy for any other natural disaster. With time this will all get fleshed out. Until then, no one really knows what to expect from this and to be semi prepared is on being responsible.
