I mean it makes sense to me. If you are a healthcare professional who is interacting with infected people on a daily basis the mask is used to prevent someone from coughing directly into your mouth. Its a barrier, not a filter. The average person is not standing next to infected people all day and doesn't need a barrier to keep someones spittle from landing in your mouth.

There are Dr.'s who say it's a big deal - not life threatening to a lot of folks, but a lot of folks would still need treatment. If an ish ton of people all become infected, that strains the Dr.'s and Hospitals that would need to care for an inordinate amount of people.

No, the world is not ending, but definitely something to be worried about.
