I've never formally joined a party. I don't carry anyone's card. Generally, I have always voted republican with the exception of some local positions 10 years ago. That said, I simply can't stomach the party anymore, and saying that I refuse to be a republican while continuing to vote republican is pretty much a no-change proposition.

Given that, I'm not too concerned about the Libertarian policy on abortion, given that it's pretty much "leave people alone and let them do what they do". Don't want tax dollars to go to abortion? No issue there, as their platform is pretty much to get the government out of everything, including healthcare.
I'm not ready to give up the fight on abortion. Also, more and more young people are opposed to it now as well. As sonogram and other technology continues to advance, it is becoming more and more difficult for the pro-abortion crowd to sweep reality under the rug and hide it. I am convinced that is a winable fight - and continuing the fight is the right thing to do anyway, IMO.

As the Republican Party drifts further and further away from the Constitution, it's becoming clearer and clearer that they are leaving us. We can either follow them to the left or let them go. It really is the party leaving me more than me leaving the party - kinda like Reagan and the Democrat Party 50 years ago.

Yep. I'll still vote though. I may not have anyone I could vote for in the presidential race, but I'll definitely vote in the other contests.

I can't imagine I would ever vote (D), I just want to get that disgusting (R) off me - like having a bad tattoo removed.
I'm listed as Independent (originally Republican when I was 18). Was Libertarian in Arizona while I lived there. I've never voted Democrat, and never will. Unless Ron Paul switches to the Dem side lol.

            To the entire post...
FYI, Ayn Rand's party would be pro-choice

I wish the Constitution Party would gain some ground. It appears to have the same conservative platform as the libertarian party without the divisiveness of the social issues. Regarding social the social issues, I believe they should be left to the states to decide (as they have been historically). As much as I dislike abortion, I don't believe it is an issue for the federal government. Roe v. Wade should be overturned, and then it can be battled in the legislatures of each state.

I'm leaning towards the Libertarian party as well. The Republican party has certainly moved away from being able to accurately represent my vote.

Like many in this thread, I'm close to done with the R party. I know many people who feel the same way and some of them being much older than me.

Maybe Perry and carson but you see where they ended up as well. Carson decided to lick trumps boots and Perry is considered a GOP laughing stock.

I first registered as a Republican when I turned 18 in 1974 - just in time to vote in the Congressional midterms. It was right after Watergate and we got drubbed. The Dems took about 50 seats in the House and their majority went over 2/3rds. The Senate ended up 61-38. It was a looong time before I voted for a candidate that actually won!

I registered R at age 18 in 1984 so I could vote for Reagan. It's been downhill ever since.

The next President will likely appoint 4 Supreme Court Judges. Just too important to risk Hillary making those appointments. This is TRULY the less of two evils election for me.

There is no reason, other than wishing and hoping, to believe that Trump would appoint justices that would be any better than the ones Hillary would appoint. He doesn't have or value any constitutional or conservative principles. If he is elected, the Democrats will gain control of Congress. He'll be happy to deal with them on everything, including Supreme Court appointments. At least with Hillary, the Republicans stand a better chance of maintaining control of Congress and we'd have a little better chance at fighting off some of her mess - not that the spineless Republicans would fight, but at least there would be that possibility.

It truly doesn't matter which one of them wins. The battle for the Supreme Court was lost last night when Cruz dropped out.

I wouldn't say that conservatism is gone for ever. Once the liberals and rino's finally bankrupt the country or allow our enemies to wage a major war on our soil, you won't be able to find a single liberal anywhere. Then when you are in the soup kitchen line not a single one of them will admit to having voted for BHO or HRC. They will be easy to spot regardless. They will be the ones in line with you belly-aching and crying the loudest. Feel free to bust 'em in the mouth and call 'em out.
