Curious what everyone’s take is on why Trump would approve a 90-day extension for TikTok to make a deal to avoid a ban. Seems like an odd move given his tough stance on China, and the owners were already given a year to make a deal which was upheld by the Supreme Court.

I believe it’s time to remove any and all protections from any social media platform. I don’t believe the US GOV should be involved in any way or form with social media companies.
in the case of Tik Tok and or any foreign owned company regardless of social media or other wise, the rules the foreign country applies to American businesses should be strictly applied to their businesses operating in the US. I am fairly certain China would not allow an American owned company to operate as they pleased in China, so I personally believe it’s time to make them sell TikTok or cut them off.

Getting rid of tik tok is not a free speech issue. 98% of the American folks can say whatever on x or the book of faces.
its a national security issue. Honestly, given the asshattery of the CCP they probably also mine the other social media platforms. They should do some thing about that as well. Tik Tok has an algorithm that shows American kids totally different information than it shows Chinese kids. The issue is disruptive, destructive content more than data mining……..they all mine data.
I have never used any of them.Last edited by dosrobles; 01-19-2025, 09:11 AM.

Just the transition from Twitter to X alone is enough to raise some brows. Much less what Zuck has admitted to. You can go on from there.Last edited by Greenheadless; 01-19-2025, 02:07 PM.
