The lumber industry was just about wiped out here in Montana due to government regulations on logging and processing to make lumber products. I have the National Forest 6 miles away up my road, and one local guy bids on the lumbering to cut and sell trees. Who would bid on it if it was 'opened up' and 10x the area was available for logging?

People came her 100+ years ago for mining, and when they were gone many went into logging. Nice idea, but the wood processing factories are closed and gone, the loggers are gone, those towns have dried up and today, much of the building materials come from Canada. It would take years and billions to pay and make America a logging company.

That and what company would invest just to have "another" president kill them with executive order. Our government will slit it's own throat and make other countries wealthy all to "feel" good.....got news for the tree huggers, you haven't saved a single tree they are just cutting them down elsewhere. There's still plenty of logging down south but it's all private trees, the government could 1. make money on logging and 2. make the forest more healthy 3. open up areas for wildlife to feed but they are afraid some hippy is going to chain themselves up in a tree.......
