I wouldn’t worry about it too much. If they will terminate for offensive political content they would have already wiped my slate clean. The stuff my buddy and I texted to each other about Biden and Kamalazz would have melted their servers.

Like said earlier, I'd download everything onto some external hard drives (while they are still being made). Memory is cheap right now. I've never trusted the cloud services. And don't use them.

I don’t have a computer, nor would I know where to start to do so. Guess I need to find out how to do it though.

Here’s the thing. Apple isn’t the only company doing things like this. The foundation is being set for suppression of speech that goes against a certain narrative. Since most people don’t read terms and conditions of anything, these things are allowed to be slipped in and to go into effect. Once all of these policies go into effect, then the crackdown of dissenting voices can begin. At that point, the legal system will already be in place so there won’t be anything we can do to stop it.

Because of this, I speak up now.

Lots of info out there on hard drives with a USB C port. It would be like hooking up an external hard drive to your cell via USB C cable. They are pretty common in smaller versions too. Black Friday sales will be happening soon!

            To get you started:
Laptop drive almost full? Need to back up your photos? Desktop-size and portable platter storage has never been cheaper. Our deep-dive reviews help you track down the right external hard drive.

            Shop around for better prices.

Yep, I know that, but if you think they give a crap about a few people complaining, you need to do some more thinking. We can’t do anything to stop it right now. All the major cell providers are liberal, left leaning companies, so it’s to be expected that they will do what they are doing. The only thing that will stop them is a lawsuit or intervention from legislators, and that would be a long shot.

I’ve actually got my legislator’s webpage pulled up. I’ll be giving their office a call tomorrow. HOPEFULLY, they actually get the message.

Or competition. IMO these 5 big companies got where they are due to government using and helping them. Even during covid I saw the FED balance sheet where they bought billions unpon billions of Apple bonds etc.

Hoping Trump has time to get to it and makes real competition great again. I know Musk talks about that issue all the time.

and do what? Pass legislation that forces a private company to operate the way you think they should?

Repeal 230 protections for social media companies, and to prevent censorship based on political or religious ideology.

Oh I completely understand that but only concern would be if I'm committing a crime not an "offensive" email or text that someone decides it is and deletes everything of mine. There is a trace of everything we do I get that. I honestly don't have any issue with law enforcement under a warrant but from what I read Aunt Karen will decide if offensive......on Icloud

In my military job I worked for NSGA and NSA. In our day, pre 9-11, if we ever even suspected a person in a conversation we were watching was a U.S. citizen we had to immediately stop. I'm afraid the same organizations have weaponized private companies to do their bidding and not in the name of national security but also not under the same constraints. Post 9-11 Bush opened up the spying on U.S. citizens in the name of national security, somewhat understandable but it like everything else in the government goes way out of control.
