iCloud service can be terminated for posting objectionable content

So under the new iCloud terms of service from Apple, amongst other things, it states that if you post, email, upload, download, store, or import objectionable content, they can terminate your iCloud account. So I contacted Apple support with this question;

Will Apple terminate my iCloud account if I post political or religious content that someone finds offensive?

The final response from the support person I was texting with was, yes it can. I expressed my concern about Apple looking at content objectively so they escalated my concerns and I’m supposed to be getting a phone call at around 7:45 this morning to discuss this further.

Everything we do is tracked. I don't use Apple products. I use a PC for my main online activity with a more private browser and search engine. I put nothing in the cloud at all. Does it make me immune? No, absolutely not, but I believe it helps. My main email is also through a private service.

Well, I received the phone call. The nice lady I was speaking to was trying to find the text message conversation that I had earlier, where the screen shots came from. She could not find them!! So I once again asked the same question:

If I post political or religious content that someone finds offensive, can my account be deleted?

She stated that political and religious beliefs can be posted without fear of my account being deleted. I explained to her that the term “objectionable” is a subjective term that is different for everyone and by using that term in the terms of service, it opens the door for suppression of our 1st Amendment.

Then the call dropped on her end!! To me it appears as though she hung up on me! That was 20 minutes ago and I’ve not had anyone call me back.

The worrisome part to me is apple is going through what I believed to be private emails and text messages. I have no idea how to use the icloud but sounds as if an alternative is needed or may be available already not my wheelhouse. I send plenty of offensive text messages to buddies though

Exactly. I’ve had an iPhone, and thus an iCloud account now for about 8 years. Every picture or video that I’ve taken during that time is on my iCloud account. So 8 years worth of family photos and videos is there. That is approximately 40 gb! I don’t want that deleted!!

my phone from the lady I was speaking to stating that we got disconnected and that if I had any other questions then to call back.

I’ve been kicking around dumping Apple for years but I have researched the competitors and with an open mind have found a lot of garbage that is hidden from them also / it’s a danged if you do , danged if you don’t situation as far as I am concerned.

I have same worries. I have everything, work info, bill info, all family photos and videos from the past 13 years all on Google Drive. And google is full of a lot more commies than Apple.
i have several friends who have shifted all their stuff to "Proton"....which is based out of Switzerland i beleieve and is fully encrypted. I have already set up and email through them. It took couple minutes.

Nothing you transmit in the digital age is private. If you want private you need to have a face to face conversation deep in the woods away from any device.

So now I tried to go in to accept the new terms because I don’t want to loose access to those pictures and videos only to get an error message:

This action can not be completed at this time.


Is this retaliation or just a coincidence?
