My youngest son has barely spoken to us this election cycle. He was a small child during the Reagan years, but he blames all the world's problems on Reagan, Trump, and my generation . He was loved and raised well as a child and I do not understand where he got his politics from. At 34, it's unlikely he'll outgrow this nonsense and his behavior is affecting the whole family. We have a new grandchild due, so we walk on eggshells around him and his new wife.

He got it from the schools attended and or the friends he kept.

I feel one of my greatest failings as a father is letting one of mine slip through the cracks.

Let yourself off the hook. I am one of three siblings, daughters of a Marine Corp colonel. We all came from the same gene and were all raised the same way. Of the three of us, two are very liberal.

Looking back, I can’t see anything my parents could have done differently to produce a different outcome. You can feed them, raise them, and show them the way but, at the end of the day, they have to be their own adults. Like it or not, you’ve done all you can for them.

Both sides of my parent’s family is littered with them. My wife’s is as well.

There’s a reason why none of us have talked with the from any side for years. The examples I could give would be astounding, but for example:

My parents are originally from the NE, New Jersey to be specific, but they were smart enough to GTFO before I or my brothers were born.

My wife’s side, well, most are Methicans. That’s not a typo and she has nothing to do with any of them.

Most of my wife's family are conservative, hard working people who are very family oriented. Many of them unfailingly vote Democrat in every election. I'll never understand it.

TDS is strong in some. Someone predicted suicide increases if Trump was elected- it is very high. The left has a lot of mentally ill and it needs to be addressed. I’ve never just turned away a person based on politics- it’s the non Christian actions that do it for me
