    My guess is mesquite flat.

I had a similar experience last Sunday. The buck has been seen twice eating corn since with a sore, but no noticeable ill effects.

I took about 15 pause/ edit screen shots, brightened and changed the lighting, all to discover I have no idea... I'm working with my phone, I'll try later with my lap top

Im thinking he shot right for the dense mesquite patch after looking at your map. I have heard before and from experience sometime they'll make a quick 90 degree turn one way or the other. Im guessing the fence line is a low barb wire?

This ^ ^ ^... I'm guessing he didn't jump the fence due to being wounded, but chose to head in to the mesquite thicket. It's hard to tell but looks like high shoulder. If the arrow stayed in that's good and bad. As he is running the arrow bouncing is shredding his insides. The bad your only hole is plugged and he is bleeding inside. Good luck don't give up!!

            What broadhead you using?

              1. make sure to use lighted nocks, they come out awesome for both your eyes and the camera.
              2. It is hard to say what a dog will do, some dogs are better at winding, and some dogs are better at cold nosing. Just Depends on what you need in the situation, i wouldnt give up on a dog. Because just as you stated, crp that you can't see through, a good dog will smell a downed deer.

I may be stating the obvious but I guess you checked the pond edge for blood?

Yessir. I actually have a gut feeling he may have caught the waterway to that pond and went out with the wind at his back. He came in over my right shoulder 10mins after I walked from due west to that blind. I was late so I could see 50yds easy when I was walking in and he had my wind (SSE) for the entire walk. He knew I was there. One of those does just had him jacked up. I wonder if he went back to where he came from when his survival instincts took back over...

As you say, he had opportunities to jump a fence a couple of times and didn't; instead, he turned. Does that mean he didn't feel able to jump or just didn't prefer to? Being an optimist, I'll say he's hit well and couldn't jump and that you'll find him. Good luck, Bleu.

He definitely has at least one hurt shoulder.

My guess is, since he made a straight line dash to the fence and didn't jump he doesn't want to. Then he skirted it, because he wants over there, he is just hurt and hasn't made it over yet.
I'd be calling the neighboring property owners for permission to look for the deer in the morning. ( just in case)
I can't tell on the video on my phone. But a high hit deer, will bleed a lot inside, with little blood outside. Could you see any prints? Was the deer running at the fence or walking?

Best of luck in the morning.

Headed out now. I've got permission on the neighbors place for today, so 3 of us are going over there to start the grid. I'm going with a dog to the blood and we'll see what happens. If anyone crosses a wound bed, they know to stop there and we'll put the dog on it.

Coming back in the morning to see if I can find the doe I shot this morning.
                              Good luck Chris!
