        The lump was just a hard fatty tumor, nothing that kept us from processing the meat. He was very healthy. Matter a fact he had a layer of fat on him like no other deer we haven't ever harvested. He even had fat in his head cavities. I guess he was ready for the rut. We where able to identify this deer through the abnormal size lump on his chest and also a golf ball size growth on the outside of his right knee.
        It's hard to say if these 2 things caused him to go so not typical, it's possible. But he did have them both the year before. Some people speculate that the split beam happens when they bump the beginning growth in velvet.
        I suppose we will never know for sure.
