Steve, thanks for the compliments. I have been bless with the opportunity to participate in a bunch of fantastic adventures over the years and enjoy sharing them. I hope the Good lord lets me have a bunch more. If not, that's alright too! He gave me the wisdom to live life today!

West Tx, Im beginning to wonder if Im capable of killing this deer! He is still showing up in daylight and I have blown TWO once in a lifetime chances with him so I am using up someone else chances now! Didn't hunt him this morning. Ill check the camera in a bit. Im also going to where we last saw the buck yesterday on the off chance he died during the night. If he did, he will be good this morning.

When you finish this he will be much more than a trophy on a wall. He will be the definition of a legend. A challenging pursuit with an amazing story to be told. Legend bucks turn us all into rookies. I can't wait to hear how it ends.

Yes Johnny, Every indication of a double lung, dead in seconds shot. He was alive and well 6 hours later and had virtually stopped bleeding. he had licked the exit wound clean also.

I know WHO you are and have been hearing about you and your critters since Billy Lewis gave me on of your old VHS tapes when I was a kid. To have a compliment paid like that from someone with legendary status, well it really means something. Thanks Steve.
Well, if he ever offers you to dinner with his family, you better take him up on it. After a dig on his arrowhead site, me, my son and nephew were invited back to his dads house for dinner. Fresh fried white bass & oysters with fixins. I also got to hear some good stories from Steve's dad from hunting whitetails to arrowheads. Not sure if you have met Steve's father yet but if you do, shake his hand with pride. Good man right there.

...you will get him very soon my friend. This is what whitetail hunting is all about. If chasing this critter was so easy, we would not enjoy it as much. I actually enjoy the chase more than the kill. The chase means so many things to me. Here is what I posted on facebook before the bow opener.

Bow Season; This evening I will go home and share a campfire with my son and nephew and talk about what really is important before hitting the woods come morning time. It’s not just about the kill but the places you see and the people you meet along the way. The Lord says, “When all is quiet, you will listen.” Wispy mares tails on a blue bird sky after a passing cold front, the sound of cardinals chirping during the stillness at first light and the wale of the coyote drifting in the late evening breeze against a beautiful painted sunset. It’s time to cleanse the soul and enrich the spirit…let’s make it a good one. Good luck and may your arrow fly true.

With that said, when the chase ends in success, the feeling is bittersweet. The time has come my friend...let's see ol cripple horn up close and personal.

And we dang sure know you ain't no rookie sir. I wish I had a coffee table like Garguy. Lots of good memories on that table, I am sure of that.
