Sneaking into your Bow setup the first time after all the hard off season work........
Waiting for sun up or praying for more light.......
Fighting through the nerves and excitement when you finally see something.......
Begging for them to come in to the zone hoping you can pull this off.....
Trying not to get busted when you grab your bow and move to get drawn.......
Holding the draw cuz he stopped behind that darn tree.....
Letting down without getting busted only to have your arrow fall 25 feet to the ground.....
Knocking another arrow without getting busted......Oh crap he's gonna leave......
Getting drawn again......why can’t I keep my pins steady like when Im home.....?
Tunnel vision mysteriously goes away ......don’t remember hitting my release?
Did I just see my arrow hit where I was aiming?
Oh crap I think I just smoked it......But im not sure?
Getting ahead of myself thinking about the how its gonna look when I find it....
Hey why are my legs so shaky all of a sudden?...Now getting scared I may not find it......
Talking myself out of staying in the tree at least 30 minutes, deciding to come down after about 2minutes to go look.....
Picking up my dropped arrow.....Oh I have blood!!......Hear noise, dang thats a fat squirrel.......
Finding your arrow covered in good blood.......head down back on track.....something is grabbing my pants.....stop to remove tangle of thorn bush from right ankle.....when I lift up a tree limb jabs my right ear....S****!!
What’s that....? Hey it’s a white spot.......OMG I got it......
Pretty much sums it up for me.......

It's quite a lot more of a challenge to take deer with bow. It takes way more preparation than gun hunting because of this challenge.
Getting out to hunt the month before the opening day of gun season during the central texas rut is priceless. The deer are typically so unspooked. Come opening day, the big boys go nocturnal for the most part and the does get more skittish.
I hunted last year and will be hunting this year where the Tonkawa Indians hunted along Cummins Creek, SW of Fayetteville. When out there, I sometimes wonder what kind of poor archery equipment they used to take deer down; however, I'll bet their stalking skills were off the chart to compensate for this lack of technology.
Taking deer by bow absolutely requires you to bring your hunting skill sets up a notch or two or three from gun hunting.
Bullydog, great recap of your adventure.

Well first of all it all started for me when I was 14 and my dad gave me and old 40 lb bear recurve. I went hunting that Oct. And of course I overslept opening morn but as I was heading to my stand I topped a rise in a hay field I was crossing and there grazing with his head down was a nice little 6 point. And as fate would have it I missed at about 40 yards but that has fueled the flame for nearly thirty years.
