    Why do you bowhunt?

I hunt with a bow for several reasons. First off theres no better feeling in the world than taking an animal with a bow. There is no room for error. Everthing has to be just right to make an ethical shot. When you have the patience to wait for that perfect shot and succeed the reward is heart thumping. Second it will make you a better hunter. The number one reason for me is giving the game a chance. Like I stated above, everything has to be just right to harvest with archery equipment. It takes alot of practice and patience to be successful bowhunter. My next step is to start hunting with a longbow. Please chime in on why you BOWHUNT.

When I was a youngster, I watched Fred Bear on TV and told my parents that one day I would do that. I got my first bow that Christmas. As I grew up, I never put any thought in it because I got envolved in football and other things. In 1981, a co-worker asked me if I would like to get on his deer lease and it was bow only. All of the sudden the memories of Fred started whirrling through my head and I jumped at the opportunity. Bought a recurve from my boss and the adventure began. Have never looked back.

Several reasons. The challenge, another season in which to hunt, little to no hunting pressure on the deer at this point, the peace and solitude and final reason is a little "me time."

For all the reasons stated above but the main one i guess is because of the chance to get closer to the animal you are about to harvest, its more intimate for me.... like you get to see its true personality if you know what i mean.....

The solitude(sp) and challenge. I prefer to hunt different species as well to add to the challenge of learning and persuing different animals. Plus I had shot one deer with a rifle my first year and it did nothing for me.

I got started in 2000 because people would FREAK if I went in the backyard and started firing off my 30-.06 at a target. I have 5 targets in my yard now and can sling arrows all day long and nobody says a word. I would rather shoot my bow everyday than my gun only twice a year.

To tick off PETA freaks and tree huggers in general.

Because i have lost the desire to hunt with a rifle, hunting with a rifle is just killing, its just no challange anymore,JMO, plus all the above.

For all the reasons stated above, and because ANYBODY can shoot a deer with a gun. I love the challenge. The only time I take a gun anymore is at the end of the season if my freezer isn't full.
