It works OK. I keep some as a back up in case I run out of my other baits. Biggest fish I have ever caught on it is about 14". What are you going to be fishing it on? It really only works on juglines or trotlines because it takes a long time for it to dissolve and let it's smell out. IMO you would be better off using something else like shad or chicken liver. Just my 2 cents.
I was listening to a guy here at work talk about a new stink bait his buddy tried this past weekend. Comes in a tub and he says it's got cotton in it which helps it cling to your hook. He just uses a stick and shoves the hook down in the tub, pulls the hook out, and throws it overboard. He said he caught some good fish with it.
We use it on limb lines all the time, catches some good eating size channel cats. The key is to find bars that are soft that way you can cut it with a knife and it won't crumble.
n arkansas each year we would always make up our own soap bait. Melt ivory soap down and add another ingrediate- I forget name, but can get it from pharmacy. We caught a ton of fish and had clean hands
