I've tried OnX, HuntStand, Gaia, and want to say I tried Basemap too but now I've got no memory of it so maybe not. Anyhow, I just keep using OnX as it always seems to work fine for me and familiarity makes it super easy to use in the field. I don't sit and stare at maps on my phone usually but I'll reference and look for alternate points of interest sometimes and never really had a problem with the map quality. All these apps are getting better though so it's always a good idea to bounce around the free trials and check out new features from time to time.

I have both OnX and Huntstand. Only reason I keep OnX is because I have a bunch of stuff marked on several public land hunts that I hope to use again in the future. But I like HuntStand much better. OnX spends their money on marketing, HuntStand on developing more features.

I have used OnX for my Oklahoma lease the last 3 years and I like it a lot.

The one thing with OnX Hunt, and maybe other apps, is to download the map of the area you'll be hunting before you go, preferably with a WIFI connection. That way, if there's no cell service you have all the information you need on your phone.

My wife and I went for a ride on the Honda SxS last night up to the National Forest, and saw 2 big-body mulie bucks in early velvet off the road. Ping! location marked in my OnX Hunt database.

I'm retired, and get emails from LinkedIn with jobs "I might like". One job positing this week was from OnX Hunt looking for a business development director to help drive their product strategy, negotiate agreements with new 3d-party information providers to be added into the app, and explore new markets outside their traditional hunting customer base. Work from home with occasional trips to their Bozeman and Missoula Montana office (we retired in Montana). I have to say, I thought hard for about 5 minutes about applying. Then I said, no I've hung up my running shoes, let some younger guy or gal change the world. Pay- in Montana, btw was $130-$165k total comp.

I use OnX and Hunt Stand but tend to use OnX mostly. It’s easy to label and I use the desktop version. I have it downloaded for off-line it works great. I’m sure Hunt Stand is good but I don’t find it as easy.
