Not tough to kill at all. Imazpyr will zap the crap outta Chinese Tall. (Arsenal is the trade name) Just dont get it near trees you want to keep......or grass....lol.

Most herbicides made for trees will spread through roots. Any roots connected or touching the roots of the target tree will also be killed along with any other plants. I know how herbicides work, anything you put on the stump, is then in the water, if there is water in the creek. Digging the tree out is your better option if its an option.

If applied properly it shouldn’t leave the tree. It should be absorbed into the pulp and kill the targeted tree.
Digging out a tallow or cutting it down is just planting 100 in its place, better to kill it in place by scalping the bark, hack into the cambium a bit and paint pure grazon or arsenal and let it dry.
Dead tree with no regrowth in three months tops.
