That just depends. Raising buck fawns can be very dangerous. They lose people fear and THEY WILL get aggressive during the rut after they are two. Unprovoked attacks are VERY common on that situation and bad injuries and even death can result...

Happens all the time around here. We pickem up clean them up and corn the yard. All the deer come in to feed and the fawns reunite every time. She'll always take em back. That human scent thing is a wives tale.

      Kill those dang ants.

if she calls the game warden she's gonna get a big ticket. the best thing to do now is go to the feed store, get some goat milk and raise it. if you need to know how pm me and ill let ya know all you need to know about it. ive raised em before and am raising an axis fawn right now.

Ag10, it is cool you think i am a jerk for saying so, but how many other fawns were laying in fire ants today WITHOUT human intervention that will be fine?? Why is it we(humans) think we are doing wildlife a favor by intervening? when the system has been working for centuries by itself?? But hey whatever man, i guess you got me......

And i do hope the fawn survives!!

I would have done the same thing. Washed anyway. I wouldn't have fed it though and I would have redeposited back in the garden. Mom will probably get it this evening

never feed a fawn cow milk or formula. it's gotta be goat kid milk. and when you feed em you gotta wipe they're rear end with a wet paper towel to get em to go to the bathroom otherwise they'll get constipated and it'll end up killin em

I've raised many healthy fawns on whole cow milk. A lot of breeders use it.

I tried milk replacer on a few fawns just for comparison and I had more problems with scours and finicky eating. However, it was Purina Pro Nurse formula that I used is not a very high quality replacer.

I've heard Zoologic replacer is very close nutritionally to doe's milk.

About how old is the fawn? Any idea?

With all the deer farms in Texas maybe a couple calls you could find someone to taked it. Is it legal to even have one?

I just spoke to my mother in law and they fed it throughout the day, when she found it it couldn't even stand up, once she sprayed all the ants off and fed it it started walking around. The momma came back and got it a couple of hours ago , if she would have left it there it would probably have died. So we have a happy ending
