I hoped the link would work? Looking for anyone who might know someone in Cancun, with a metal detector. My Aggie (I can't hold that against him [emoji16]) nephew lost his A&M ring on the beach. Aggies have great pride in those rings and he is offering a reward if found.

Hopefully it's able to be found. If not, can he get a replacement or is it a one and done type of deal?

Not sure, I'm not an Aggie. I think it's a kinda symbolic thing. Getting replacement might be like paying to have a deer mounted, for your wall, that your buddy shot while you were with him?
Picked up my ring in the spring of '78. Around 1980 it slipped off my finger while fishing- not going to get that one back. Took a number of years until I had enough disposable income to replace what with the price of gold always seeming to increase. Anyway, went to the ring office and filled out paperwork to order. This was probably 10 or 12 years after graduating. The little ladies in the office said I had my ID number wrong on the form- that a social security number has nine digits and I only had eight on the form. I told them that when I was at A&M our ID number was not our social security- they were amazed that I remembered it, but in those days you couldn't hardly even go to the bathroom without having your ID number. Short answer is- yes you can reorder.
My dad lost his and replaced it when I was a kid , but doesn’t wear it anymore
I never bought it , didn’t have any desire for it , but the old man was in the corp of cadet (1966) and I wasn’t so

Your analogy is incorrect. Aggie rings are lost and replaced all the time. I've replaced mine and don't feel any differently about it.
