    Torn Bicep?

Anyone here had to have a torn bicep surgically repaired?

    Recovery time?

Tendon release? Yes and for me it took two surgeons!

Don't know exactly yet. Think it is long head tendon torn from shoulder

Ouch! Did you hear it snap? I know you definitely felt it. Mine sounded like a .22 lr going off

I have not, but my buddy did at the beginning of last year. Not sure how long recovery took, but I do know we were snapper fishing when the season started

Have not torn mine but I have some expedited degeneration issue in both of my biceps. The left one had issues first and surgical repair was one of 3 options for me. Believe they would have removed 2-2.5" of it and re-attached. 12-16 weeks in a cast, 12-16 weeks of PT and about 7-10 months before having it back to "almost normal".

I had another option of PCP or PRP (whatever its called) injections and went that route instead and it took about 10-12 months to fully heal.

              Good luck sir.

Had it and shoulder at same time. I was good to go in about 5-6 months

I tore mine about 8 months ago. Im 39 years old. I elected to go without surgery. I have no pain at all today. If Im doing something thats very strenuous with that arm, I get a cramp that feels like a charlie horse. Thats about it. It is not as strong as it used to be but Ive learned to deal with it, as my real heavy lifting days are over.

Lol- your are headed down the path I chose on many different bodily structural items! This is the wrong path to go down but I won’t say “ wait until you get My age “

Had distal rupture October 31 of 2001. Had it repaired on 11/4. Could not lift a bottle anything over a bottle of water for 3 months. Worst pain from surgery I’ve had and I’ve done a lot of stupid stuff that required a lot of surgeries. My BIL tore Ho from his shoulder and did not have it repairs besides looking a little funny it’s alright now.

I tore my right bicep about 15 years ago and didn’t get it fixed, and it doesn’t give me much trouble.

Well it wasnt my first choice. I went and had my Dr schedule an appt for me to see a surgeon within 7 days of it happening. They called me 2 days before my appt and said they dont accept my insurance and wouldnt let me pay cash. I then had to find someone else. Next appt was gonna be over 2 weeks from then and a long ways from where I live (and that was just to see the surgeon). After lots of research I felt the tendon would be dead and not worth messing by then with so I decided to live with it. So far I have no pain. It actually seems like my shoulder is in less pain than its ever been in. Ive had pain in my shoulder for many years from all the pitching I did.

I tore mine off the elbow in 2013. I'm 51 now. It bothers me when bassing fishing using plastics when I set the hook. It's still burns and cramps. Other than that not too many problems with it.

Distal bicep tear surgery here. It sounded like a .22 pop when it tore. Worse instant pain I've ever felt, then it went away. You only have so long to have it repaired before it's too late. Go see an orthopedic surgeon asap.
