depends on the size of your dog and the size of the copper head my female french mastiff was bit on the lip late one nite we took her to the 24 hr emergency room vet, first question how do u kno it was a copperhead? cause i killed it.are you sure ? yes i am would you like to see it dr.? so i bring it the dead snake and then they look it up on the internet cause they weren't sure. they told me bout the 1,000 dollar antivenom and that it maybe too late to do any good so we paid them the 300 dollars and left.found another vet by our home that we called the 24 hr service and he came right down there and said i dont mean to talk bad bout any other vet but those city dr.s at those 24 hr places aren't very country savvy.he gave her some steroids sent her home we came back for a follow up and he treated her again and she was fine a bit swollen but that was it and no 300.00 or 1000 dollar ani-venom.he also said depends alot on the dog age health where it was bit . he said a rattlesnake would've been treated a bit more aggressively tho. i'll say a prayer

My lab was bit twice in the face by a small rattlesnake and he came out fine. His head swole up like a basketball and he was pretty uncomfortable for a while. I just gave him benadryl and made him drink water and he was good to go in a couple days.

What size dog? How old? Is it a family pet, ranch dog, hunting dog?
If it were one of our dogs I'd listen very closely to the wife and go that direction.....at all costs.

take him to a tank,and get some mud all over the bite,that mud will suck the poison out -trust me

benadryl is what we have always used. Our lab used to get bit at least 2-3 times a year. we always gave benadryl and removed his collar for a day or two. I usually give mine benadryl 2x a day for 2 days and then they are good to go.

1 capsule of the regular benadryl (pink and white box). The regular allergy stuff.

That's it...We have a Basset that gets a benedryl every morning for his allergies, works great for him, don't know how he does it....give me one of those and I am instantly in never never land!!!!!!

My dad has dachsunds(sp) that get bit by copperheads almost every summer. If they can survive, any bigger dog should be fine. All he has ever done is give them benadryl.

We must have a nice vet here in Weimar. When my beagle got bit by a copperhead, he gave her a few shots and some pills to take and it wasn't near the price you were quoted.
