It really blows my mind that so many people on here are bitching about an increase in license fees. It seems to me that if everyone on here was half as conservation minded and they claim to be, they would understand and support the increase. Maybe all the negative nancies need to do a little research into what your license fees actually pay for......????

Most of the replies I read were either ok with the increase or said they would be buying a lifetime license, neither of which I would classify as "complaining" or as anti-conservationist.

If you don't hunt on public land then don't buy the APH Permit.
What? Not even close!
What I'm saying is great time to go up with economy the way it is for most folks but more importantly how we all "go along" whenever government gives the increase.
NOW, I will add this, ANYTIME I can SEE the benefit I'm for it. Led in Bond election for new school as I knew it was the thing to do for the right reasons. I support TPWD (ask some of them) and think they do a great job. Being a business owner and not "getting the raise" or the bailout (supplier went bankrupt few weeks ago and I lost all my stock money...no Obama for us) I like to be given a good reason. Ok, maybe they had to spend more money on gas?

With government its usually two different areas as to 'what you tell the people where they want to spend the money on' versus 'where the money is actually spent'. A marked increase just because of inflation is okay with a private business but not with government. Just because most of us can easily afford the license today doesn't mean we will be able to tomorrow. While the added increase will probably not detract any of us from buying the licenses I'm willing to bet it will stop and make the first time hunter/fisherman think twice about whether or not they want to try the sport.

The agency is prohibited from using hunting and fishing license revenues for any other purpose, such as supporting state parks. State Park revenues, and a portion of boat registration and titling revenues are deposited in fund 064. These funds may only be used for the support and operation of state parks, including the construction and maintenance of boat ramps within the park.
