Logger Head Gumbo. MMMMMM !!! I’ve always told those that don’t eat turtle that if God had not intended for them to be eaten he would’ve have created them in their own bowl.

That’s only critter I know of that my FIL would not kill. Everytime we would pull a big one up on a line he would say, “that joker is older than I am, he deserves to live”. Splash he would go!

That loggerhead is some fine, fine eatin'! But bein' in the Sabine, if it's an "alligator snapper", they're protected by Texas and not legal to kill... They have three ridges on the back of their shell... a regular loggerhead snapper has only a middle ridge and it's not as pronounced... Jokers do get big tho and some of the best eating meat that comes out the water!!

Oh and Tony, that's a pretty nice bluecat in that last photo too!! Even the backstraps out of a needlenose that big is worth the effort to take 'em out.
