Get a bait box and sink them in the river.

We also use a fish box and do the same. That way, only have to clean fish all at once after a long fishing excursion.

It was tough at our tournament. Seemed like we lost more than half by the time we made it to the river.

Have used one in the past, just seems like we loose a lot of fish.

What kind of bait is dying on you?

Usually if you have good bait practice most will live.
            1. When catching bait place in a bucket of fresh water. They will freak out and release lots of ammonia the first few minutes.
            2. After a few minutes they can be transferred to the bigger tank.
            3. Use rock salt in main tank with a good pump. Main tank need to be smooth round so water goes in a circle.
            4. Don't overcrowd! How many bait depends on what type and how cool or warm the water is.

It's a lot of work to keep good baits alive.....a lot.

I got mine from FarmTek. 1/2"-8' tree stakes, I take the 1/2' PEC piping and tap a 4" piece over the end. I really like them and they go in easy with a rubber mallet.

FarmTek offers the best customer service and most economical prices on products for the agricultural industry. Product offerings include farm supplies, aquaponic, poultry supplies, agriculture products, animal housing, home improvement, commercial high tunnels and hoop houses, fodder growing kits, livestock care and greenhouse equipment, including garden carts and poly film.

aerate, aerate, aerate. I like the bait cages you can place in the river to hold large amounts of bait for a few days as well. Just keep it in moving water if all possible.
