    Work for 10 year old?

My soon to be 10 year old daughter wants new catching gear. She plays catcher for her rec and select team, and is rather talented (for a kiddo). The gear she has now is getting a little long in the tooth.

If she's awake, she's got a softball in her hands. She's such a beautiful soul and I want to provide her with the best. Straight A student, manners like you wouldn't believe, and the best big sister to her brand new baby brother.

The new catching gear she wants is the Jen Schro Very Best catching gear. It's incredible gear, but has the price tag to go with it of $460. I just don't have the extra cash right now. I told her she would need to work for the money to pay for it, if she really wanted it. She told me she would do whatever it takes.

    What are some recommendations?

    Walking dogs
House sitting/watching animals while people in the neighborhood are on vacation
Girl in our neighborhood is charging $10 to pick up dog poop in your yard. More if it’s excessive amounts haha. Pretty sure my wife is going to hire her. I will gladly pay that.

Take trash cans out and bring them back. We have a kid in my neighborhood doing it for $3 a day once a week. He does 20-30 houses and is making $close to $100 a week after tips. I love it because I am out of town about every other week and hate having smelly trash.

Well chit, you're a good ways off from me in Houston area.

Do you live in a neighborhood? Have good neighbors?

Get her to mow the neighbors yard
Make her do the household laundry for a week
Get her to chase balls for a couple of T ball practices in other teams, or help with their practice

I'll put 50 bucks towards some new gear if she can pull something like that off!

If she was in Houston, I could put her to work.

Back when I was growing up, we used to wash the neighbors cars, mow and edge yards, and do general chores around the house for them.

All the previously mentioned were expected of us at home. Food on the table and a soft bed to sleep in was payment. Dad did allow us to use his tools, mower, and what not though for us to make money.

I don’t have any answers for the work, but I’ll look and see what the best I could do on the price of the catching gear for ya..

bake sale & garage sale of items/ toys / electronics she no longer uses. friends, family, neighbors, tbh'ers are all usually willing to overpay for stuff if for a good cause. if she can make a good pie she can get rich!

i see a lot of locals doing raffles for baskets of stuff that they got local businesses to donate to to help fund team gear and travel.

                    Lemonade stand !
Write a sign that tells why she is needing money.
Good people will come through for her.
Set up at the red light in Whitesboro.

I'm down for helping any way I can. Good on you for teaching work ethic. I'd pay good money for some baked goods. Fat boy needs carbs.

Sell your bow or a gun or two and buy that girl what she wants. Sounds like she deserves it.
Congrats on raising a good one. Let her work it off on chores or something if you just want to make her “earn” it.
