    bumping this to the top.
created our own select team - Texas Misfits 12u
Lots of what could legally be 10u players, but wanted to really put something together for the long term.
We're in fully tournament mode now. Had a scrimmage last weekend against some fall 14u teams and did well. First full on tournament coming up next weekend and looking forward to it. Headed south for the Memorial Day bash in Galveston on the 24-26 of May. Click image for larger version

My daughter's (twins) played select from12U, then at 14U they were invited to play gold Travel, played at Juco and end up at Uof H.. All I can say buy yourself a Camper or Travel Vans to hang out in between games. That’s been 18 years ago. I can only imagine what it’s like in this heat now.

Son is 7U rec baseball and daughter is 8U softball. I couldn't imagine being on a select team at this point in time. I don't think either one of them have the attention span or passion for the game at this point to meet the demands of playing tournaments.

We finally called it quits after 5 years. The coach set up all tournaments in the Dallas area for this summer and that's just not what we wanna do anymore.
Its been pretty dang nice not having to deal with softball for a bit.

We’re in a tournament in Denison this weekend. It’s definitely tiring at times

We just finished Southern Nationals in DFW this weekend. Played some tough teams and ended up in 2nd this time. 12U Lady Patriots out of Bullard TX.

Full blown tournament season. Last 3, we've placed 2nd/3rd/3rd.. long way from where we came from. Being a 1st year 12u can be difficult at times, but this group is salty. Got to brag on my daughter for a second. Last at bat of the tournament, down by 3, runner on third, two outs. I told her, if she gets her pitch, to absolutely swing out of her shoes as she really has nothing to lose.. and she cranked. Hardest ball she's ever hit and first time ever swinging a ghost bat... bangs it off the 210 fence.. that may not be great to some, but to her, it was elation. Was a really good moment.

We’re in first year 14u and it’s been great so far. We have been playing showcases which is a game changer for us. We have typically played 3 games on Saturday and 2 on Sunday.

My daughter has been really hitting well this fall. She’s been to some college camps and has received lots of good feedback and has an unofficial offer from a JUCO. Since she is only 13, they cant make an official offer yet. They said she can be a D1 level player if she keeps working. She has the size (5'10") and will fill out and get stronger as she matures.

Well boys, here we go again. First tournament begins tomorrow, report to the fields at 0745. My 12u catcher has been working hard through the winter and is looking to have a spectacular spring season. She's beginning to be on some radars as she's gotten invited to some well-known teams. We've committed to our current team through the spring, but fall, we may be in some different colors.. she might be making an impact on another team with some golden opportunities.. let the season begin!!

Good luck this season. Make darn sure those well known teams are the right fit for YOUR kid. Don't get blinded by the allure of playing for a big name org just for the sake of it and do your homework. Just some friendly advice from a baseball dad of 2. I have 1 year left with my youngest and that's a wrap. Enjoy the ride and don't blink!
